Like
adventure travel, yoga and massage provide individuals
an opportunity for personal transformation,
not just of the body but of the mind and spirit.
In the wilderness, one feels at peace and in
harmony with nature. Each day is different,
enlightening and exciting. As we do our
yoga practice, we discover that our bodies and
emotions are also changing daily.
Taking
the time to explore internally through yoga
and meditation, we are able to integrate on
a deeper level all the excitement, challenge,
and exhilaration of the trip. Yoga and
massage are an integral part of our adventure
program. These activities help to keep
us "primed" for the physical exertion
involved with our adventure, as well as enhance
our heart-to-heart connection with the people
of the various cultures that we visit.
When
the adventure is over, we will be stronger and
more supple than when we came. We will
return home with new-found skills, as well as
a greater sense of gratitude and respect for
ourselves, our environment, and our planetary
community.
San Juan River Rafting - Utah
Raft
83 river miles and 1000 years of history on
this twisting and turning convoluted canyon
in the Colorado Plateau. This enormous natural
museum, locked within a labyrinth of the nation's
most surreal landscape, is a super-spectacle
for lovers of American archeology, geology,
botany and history. At night, camp in a bottomless
archaeological treasure chest of Pre-Puebloan
ruins and artifacts. There will be a lot of
hiking on this trip with some 15,000 archaeological
sites waiting to be explored. Along with daily
yoga and meditation, you will receive instruction
in body posturing, a tool that gives greater
depth to the practice of using the body to access
cosmic consciousness. The water is rated Class
II, making it the perfect opportunity to relax,
meditate and enjoy a spiritually uplifting experience.
Chilko Multi-Sport Yoga/Spa Adventure Lodge-Based Adventure Far From the Ordinary
Zooming off on one of the most spectacular plane rides on earth is the start to this adventure. It is a wake up call
for most city folk, entering this landscape of ice, freckled with towering serrated ridges and dramatic glacial lakes.
The 55-mile stretch of Chilko Lake is translucent and azure-like, on par with the waters of the South Pacific. The lake
beckons exploration, as does the Chilko River flowing out of its north end.
The principle activities of this trip will be kayaking on Chilko Lake surrounded by 10,000-foot peaks in a road-less wilderness
area, heli-hiking in the alpine and wildflowers of the Coast Mountains among glacier capped peaks, and river rafting the
crystal clear Chilko River. The balance of the days will be filled with hiking, horseback riding, or fishing for world
famous rainbow trout or dolly varden char. Each day, we will return to the rustic comfort and charm of our lakeside
accommodations to indulge in fine wine and great food, while watching thousands of salmon and rainbow trout leap over
teal waters which turn blood red, then intense violet by night. The yoga/massage program will help keep us primed for
all of our physical activities, and we'll return home not only stronger and more supple than when we came, but filled
with a sense of gratitude for ourselves, our bodies and our environment. This is one trip that leaves footprints with
you forever.
